// the brief

What the site had to do

The brief

Architenko is a Belgian architecture and urban planning studio working from Brussels and Hasselt. In the site’s own words, it takes on private housing as well as large-scale public procurement and urban development. The website has to carry several different kinds of content at once: a catalogue of services, an archive of projects, a magazine of its own and the studio’s own pages. All of it is in Dutch and English, for an audience that includes both private clients and municipalities.

What we built

The platform runs on Laravel and every kind of content has its own model and its own address: /nl/ or /en/ and from there services, projects, articles and studio.

The language sits in the path, so each version is a separate page for search engines. The services are eleven separate pages rather than one long list, the projects have detail pages with photography, and the articles are organised into categories under the name “Magazenko”. The appointment form and the newsletter sign-up appear on every page, and measurement runs through Google Tag Manager and GA4.

// the reasoning

What we chose and why

  1. The language is in the URL, not in a cookie

    /nl/… and /en/… are separate addresses with their own content. That way both versions can be indexed instead of one being invisible to search engines.

  2. Eleven services, each with its own page

    From concept and architectural design through to BIM, digital twin and work with municipalities. Each service is a separate address that can be found directly from search.

  3. “Magazenko” – a magazine of its own, by category

    Articles are split into Bouwwijzer, Ruwbouw, Technieken, Interieur, Omgeving and Toolkits, with a search box on top. Readers go straight to the category they care about.

  4. The studio is its own section

    Profile, team, working method, awards, open positions and terms. For public tenders these are the pages that get read before the projects do.
